Customer statement: Prysmian Group

Prysmian Group is the market leader in the production of cables, systems and services in the energy and telecom industry. Prysmian Group is known for its two brands: Draka and Prysmian. Draka specializes in the production of power cables, low voltage cables and cable systems. Prysmian specializes in the production of cables and accessories that can be used in high voltage and energy distribution networks.

What type of clients do you work for?

Prysmian Group mainly works with installers and electrical wholesalers, such as Technische Unie, Oosterberg, Solar, Rexel and Schuurman. We are mainly active in the energy sector and telecom sector, supplying cables, systems and services in all sectors.

What problem did you ask JC-Electronics to solve?

In Emmen, we use our compounding machine called MBZH for the production of halogen-free cables. This machine works non-stop to supply our factory with halogen-free materials. When this machine comes to a standstill, it immediately causes problems in our production. In 2021 there was a malfunction at Draka in the MBZH compounding machine. In doing so, the MBZH operator screen stated that the pressure of the granulator was out of tolerance. Usually, the pressure of the granulator is measured with a Dynosco pressure transducer. This pressure transducer develops a measurement signal which is then stored in an analog input card. During the outage, the analog input board had an Ext. Fail error message, which means that an error has occurred in the Dynosco pressure sensor. After several attempts to solve the problem, it turned out that the problem was with the input card. To our surprise, we realized we didn't have an extra analog input card in stock. We contacted JC-Electronics, asking if they had this card in stock.

To our relief, Gertjan de Vries of JC-Electronics indicated that he had analog input cards in stock and that it was possible for JC-Electronics to supply us with an analog input card immediately. As a result of this conversation, the analog card was delivered to us within an hour and a half and installed immediately. JC-Electronics' large stock and quick delivery allowed the MBZH production line to resume production with minimal downtime.
