Siemens price increase and S7-1200 phase-out: what does it mean for your installation?
Siemens has announced two changes that may affect your project planning: a price increase as of 1 October 2026 and the phase-out of the SIMATIC S7-1200 (1st generation) from November 2026.
Siemens price increase Factory Automation
Effective 1 October 2026, Siemens is implementing a price increase across its Factory Automation portfolio: an average of 5% on hardware and software, rising to 15–50% on specific items such as memory modules and migration products.
Phase-out of the SIMATIC S7-1200 (1st generation)
The phase-out of the SIMATIC S7-1200 (G1) starts in November 2026. After this date, parts can still be ordered as new until 30 September 2027 and will then remain available as spare parts for a further 9 years. Siemens recommends using the successor, the S7-1200 G2, for new projects.
What does this mean for you?
Your installations will keep running as normal; there is no date on which your controls stop working. What does change is availability in the longer term. Once a series is phased out, we see three things happen in practice: prices rise, lead times increase and supplier stock levels drop. That's mainly a risk when you unexpectedly need a part for a critical machine.
This is therefore a good moment to review which route suits your situation best, before you have to decide under time pressure.
New or refurbished
